Firstly, based on the number and shape of the corrugated layers, corrugated cardboard boxes are mainly divided into single-wall, double-wall, and triple-wall boxes. Single-wall boxes, also known as triple-wall boxes, consist of one layer of corrugated paper and two layers of linerboard, offering good compressive strength and cushioning performance, suitable for packaging general goods. Double-wall boxes, also known as five-wall boxes, consist of two layers of corrugated paper and three layers of linerboard, offering even superior compressive strength and cushioning performance, often used for packaging heavy or fragile goods. Triple-wall boxes, also known as seven-wall boxes, consist of three layers of corrugated paper and four layers of linerboard, possessing extremely high compressive strength and cushioning performance, suitable for packaging particularly heavy or high-value goods.
Secondly, according to the shape of the corrugations, corrugated cardboard boxes can also be divided into U-shaped, V-shaped, and UV-shaped types. U-shaped corrugated boxes have curved corrugations, good elasticity, and high compressive strength, but are prone to deformation during processing. V-shaped corrugated boxes have sharp, pointed corrugations, offering good stiffness but poor elasticity and a tendency to break. UV-cured corrugated boxes combine the characteristics of both U-shaped and V-shaped boxes, possessing both good elasticity and a certain degree of stiffness, making them the most widely used corrugated shape currently.
Furthermore, based on their purpose and structure, corrugated boxes can also be categorized into ordinary corrugated boxes, sliding-top corrugated boxes, nesting corrugated boxes, folding corrugated boxes, and large corrugated boxes. Ordinary corrugated boxes are the most common type, suitable for packaging and transporting general merchandise. Sliding-top corrugated boxes are easy to open and close, suitable for packaging goods that require frequent opening. Nesting corrugated boxes consist of multiple nested parts, facilitating assembly and disassembly, and are suitable for packaging large or irregularly shaped goods. Folding corrugated boxes can be folded flat for easy storage and transportation, saving space. Large corrugated boxes have a larger size and load-bearing capacity, suitable for packaging large equipment or bulk goods.
In terms of industry standards, the manufacturing and selection of corrugated cardboard boxes must follow certain specifications. For example, the appropriate type and specifications of cardboard boxes should be selected based on factors such as the weight, size, and transportation method of the goods. At the same time, the material, number of corrugated layers, and shape of the cardboard box will also affect its compressive strength and cushioning performance, so selection must be based on actual needs.
In practical applications, cost factors must also be considered when choosing the type of corrugated cardboard box. Different types of corrugated cardboard boxes differ in manufacturing processes and material costs, thus their prices will vary. Generally speaking, double-walled and triple-walled cardboard boxes are more expensive but offer better compressive strength and cushioning performance; while single-walled cardboard boxes are less expensive and suitable for packaging general goods.
